VOLKSWAGEN JETTA


The latest offer by the German luxury car maker Volkswagen, the Jetta is has laid a great impression in the Indian. The Jetta was launched in India in mid 2008 and is being assembled locally at the Volkswagen's Aurangabad facility.


Jetta's variants come in both petrol and diesel version that includes 1.6L Petrol Trendline, 1.9L Diesel Trendline, 1.9L Diesel Comfortline, 2.0L Diesel comfortline and 2.0L Diesel Trendline.The engine for the 2.0L Diesel Comfortline is strapped with a 6-speed Manual Transmission while engines of all other variants are mated with the smooth five speed manual transmission and also gives and option of six-speed DSG automatic transmission.

This gentle but solid looking sedan pretends to be a much bigger car than actual size thanks to its creative design. Known for its sporty and powerful design, where the cabin reflects luxury complementing its exterior styling too. It does not compromise on safety either, it is said to carry the high level of safety standards. Technically built on the popular Golf sedan, the Jetta adopts the German technological excellence. This attractive sedan with a dynamic image of the four door car offers attractive colours like campanella white, red spice, reflex silver, platinum grey and deep black to choose from giving tough competition to its rivals like Skoda Laura, Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla.



Powertrain & Performance
Under the hood of this dashing sedan is a 1.6L 4cylinder churning out 101 bhp for the petrol version and 1.9L 4-cylinder delivering 104 bhp for the diesel variant. Available in three variants 1.6L Petrol Trendline, 1.9L Diesel Trendline and 1.9L Diesel Comfortline, where the entry level models which rides on 16-inch allow wheels flaunts with features like air conditioning (climatic), electro-mechanical power steering, power windows, Radio-CD sound system, and central locking with RF remote.

In the next level model with manual transmission is supplemented with the features of entry level carried added features like multifunctional display (on-board computer with display in the instruments), eight loudspeakers for the radio-CD sound system (RCD 300).

Where as when we come to the hi-end level, we a see a touch of luxury there with 6 speed automatic DSG gearbox, leather seats, a multifunctional leather steering wheel, further pampers you with an alarm system, ''Coming & Leaving home'' lighting function.

That is not it; this stylish looking Jetta accelerates 0 to 100 kmph in just 12.2 seconds can reaching the top speed of 186 kmph.

Build & Styling
With a nice sleek body that Jetta carries slightly smaller than it actually looks sportier version of the Passat. The car gives an aggressive look from the front with a bold grill and chrome accents that resembles the luxury lad Audi, VW's corporate sibling. The multi-spoke 16 inch alloy wheels and dual-tip chrome enhances the car further complimenting the car with a sporty look.

Jetta's well finished interior clubbed with quality materials is outstanding. Well placed and perfectly position of various controls is excellent and speaks up for the creativity. Spacious front and rear leg room of this compact car offers total comfort. The trunk can also easily bear several large suitcases. Jetta does not compromise on safety either and ensures with high level of technology and features in the field of passive safety, enhanced with h six airbags as standard and side airbags as an additional feature of the Comfortline version.
