MERCEDES SLR MCLAREN

As we floored the accelerator in the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, there was a brief snap of wheelspin before the electronic stability control stepped in to balance the sudden tidal wave of torque against the grip of the car's 295/30ZR-19 rear Michelins. After that it was just a matter of listening to the deep staccato beat of the 5.4-liter supercharged V-8 hurtling the SLR down the relatively short runway at Malmsheim, near Stuttgart (where Mercedes organized this performance test for American magazines), and then tapping the shift button on the steering wheel each time the tach reached for its 7000-rpm redline.

MERCEDES SLK 350

The pleasure of open-top motoring continues to remain a privilege that few in this country can afford, but as that number continues to grow luxury car manufacturers the likes of Mercedes-Benz aren’t exactly going to sit around and watch them being unattended.

Say hello to the new SLK 350, the latest representation of the German car makers modernistic approach to building roadsters that are agile, sporty, good looking and most importantly ecological. Shortly after introducing the SL 350 in India, Mercedes’s move to bring in its new and refreshing SLK 350 coupe is more than welcome.

MERCEDES BENZ SLS

It’s not set for an official world debut until September’s 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show but the convertible version of the latest Mercedes-Benz gullwing supercar, the brand new 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster, has been revealed in full for the first time.

The car has been one of the worst kept secrets of the year, perhaps purposely so, as we’ve not only seen barely disguised prototypes but also leaked patent drawings and even a Super Bowl ad appearance. However, there are still plenty of details that we can finally confirm today.

MERCEDES SL65 AMG

Based on a highly modified and lightened version of the Mercedes-Benz SL roadster, the new SL65 AMG Black Series coupe features a carbon-fiber fixed roof, front fenders, hood, trunk lid and front and rear aprons. With all these super-strong, lightweight parts, plus the absence of retractable roof hardware, the car is more than 550 pounds lighter than the standard SL.
With its flatter roof, broader front fenders (nearly six inches wider), large air intakes in the front apron and hood, a rear apron with air diffuser fins and retractable rear spoiler, the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG looks dramatically bolder from all angles.

MERCEDES SL500

The SL 500s design has a sense of rhythm and cohesiveness that makes the SL ever so special. The interlocking ovoid lamps, the slatted grille, or gills, used on all sporting Mercs and the tight-fitting flared front wheel arches deliver class that is seldom attained. The SL is the first road-car application of the company’s Sensotronic Brake  Control (SBC) system  -a system which sends electronic instructions to the individual brake calipers on the basis of pressure applied on the pedal and the ability of the wheel to cope with the braking force. The system can brake wheels individually, balance braking forces in corners and provides faster, harder braking due to the use of a pump that is constantly maintained at a higher pressure.

MERCEDES C-CLASS

Mercedes have seen fewer launches than other manufacturers in the Indian context. Often we get to see all those VW launch invitations coming our way and a few other manufacturers as well. However, this time around, Mercedes have ignored their previous lethargy of bringing in products to India much later after the so called launches in rest of the parts of the world. The product in question happen to be the company’s bread and butter model,  the 2011 Mercedes C-Class in India. The C-Class was launched barely a few days back and here, we have it in our folds for a review. Most of the discerning road users would barely know the difference between the old and new C-Class models, however, we are here to tell the difference. Place a call to the Merc agency and they loaned us a new 2011 Mercedes C-Class and here is a review report of the same.

Looks

Starting with the head lamps which are an all new feature in this car, there isn’t much to differentiate the old and new C-Class’. Also, this is no small upgrade to the head lamps. Like most of the North American cars and also European, now Indian, the new C-Class gets a blue tinge in the head lamps. Replacing the fog lamps are a string of LEDs. The bonnet has been lowered a bit in the interests of pedestrian safety while the air intake has also been widened. The 17 inch wheels carry on with the old alloy wheel pattern and the boring wing mirrors are also carried over from the older model. A panoramic sunroof is part of the standard equipment and towards the rear, new S-Class like tail lamps with the integrated indicators make their debut.

MERCEDES S-CLASS

There’s a special feeling when you are driving behind that famed Mercedes-Benz three-pointed star – though perhaps I am a tad biased because the finest car I ever owned was a classic 300SEL.

Whatever, I awaited delivery of the new generation S-Class with growing anticipation. It did not disappoint., offering me a wonderful blend of style, comfort, performance and agility. This is an ultimate in luxury.

MERCEDES B-CLASS

In contrast to the futuristic, otherworldly details of the F-125!, the Mercedes-Benz B-Class makes a here-and-now statement about the present. The sheetmetal language that Benz has been rolling out for years finally makes its debut at the B-Class party, in hopes of proving that a stubby hatch doesn't need to look exactly like a stubby hatch. Mercedes also claims the aerodynamics "set a new benchmark in the segment."

Motive effort comes courtesy of a new pair of direct-injection gasoline engines, that technology also gaining entry to the B-Class segment for the first time. The 1.6-liter B180 will have 122 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque, the B200 will put out 156 hp and 183 lb-ft, those torque figures coming from 1,250 rpm. A 1.8-liter and common-rail diesel and rounds out the options, coming in 109 hp/183 lb-ft and 136 hp/221 lb-ft flavors. Transmissions will be either a 7G-DCT dual-clutch or a six-speed manual.

MERCEDES BENZ SL63

The high-performance 2012 SL63 AMG comes with a 518 hp V8 engine equipped with the award-winning AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sport transmission. A direct descendant of the legendary 300SL "Gullwing" of the 1950s, the SL roadster features dramatic styling with fenders that incorporate sharp, angular headlights and modified gill-type air outlets behind the front wheels.
A front hood with a large, single dome and a bold single-lamella grille emphasize the width of the body and make a symbolic visual connection to the famous 1954 300SL, while tightly-styled side mirrors reveal built-in arrow-shaped turn signals.

At the rear, an air diffuser in the bumper adds a motorsports touch, and trapezoidal exhaust tips emphasize its width and suggest all the power on tap. The cockpit includes a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel and an instrument cluster with eye-catching red tachometer and speedometer needles that swing to the max position and back to zero whenever the ignition is turned on.

MERCEDES CLK

In the electronic age, we expect instant gratification. And that doesn't only refer to things like fast food or thrill-a-second computer games. We want our cars to be exciting the moment we climb aboard, too. Well, as my grandmother used to tell me, patience is a virtue and has its own rewards.

One such is the Mercedes CLK 270 CDI. Drive it for one night or a short trip, and you won't be happy with the skittish rear end, unrefined diesel engine, sluggish pull-away or the fact that it costs nearly ΂£40,000 with all the options fitted. This is fair enough - they're all valid criticisms.

MERCEDES E-CLASS

The new seventh generation E-class from Mercedes-Benz is the bestselling mid-size luxury sedan. The saga of E-class is almost five decades old which started in 1953 and went on to become the highest selling imported luxury car in the United States.

This new model comes in four variants i.e, E 250, E 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY, E 350 and E 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY. The E-Class is perfectly tuned for comfort and luxury. This luxury sedan is loaded with safety features such as airbags, start/stop buttons, and brake drying devices and many other in which Mercedes-Benz is a pioneer.
